Everyone has a reason for their choice to homeschool. Our desire for homeschooling began way before we had children. We worked at a children's home in FL and noticed that a lot of the kids that came into our program were significantly behind in school. Some High Schoolers read at a 3rd grade level (some worse!). At the same time we noticed some our friends/co-workers as they homeschooled their own kids and we were impressed with their education and their way of interacting with peers and adults. Soon after that we began teaching at the school on property which uses the A.C.E. curriculum and we loved watching our students succeed and soar above anything they could have ever imagined.
By this time we were quite convinced that we wanted to homeschool. But, most importantly, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to be in control of our child's education and value system (oh, and go on vacation whenever we wanted!).
Whichever your reason for homeschooling is, we are sure that the sacrifices have not been made in vain. If you are looking into homeschooling and are wondering if this is the right thing for your family, please do not be discouraged! If you are considering it, then it is most likely the right choice! There are many resources to help you get started and we are all willing to help. It takes courage, discipline, time, patience and sacrifice to homeschool, but, oh, it's sooooooo worth it!
